Junior Summer School

For boys and girls aged 7-13

Junior Summer school is based at Taunton Preparatory School. Students will be taught by qualified primary school teachers who understand how students of this age learn best.  Some of the teachers teach at Taunton Preparatory School which adds to the quality of the lessons provided.  This course is also ideal preparation for students who are thinking of studying in a UK preparatory school.

The academic timetable will offer students a range of academic subjects including English, Mathematics, Science, Geography, History, Art, IT, PE, Music, Home Economics and Design and Technology.

Students will have 25 hours of lessons a week and there will be trips to reinforce learning as part of the timetable.  There will be a range of activities to stimulate young learners and the students will be in small classes of 8-10 students. They will be placed into classes according to their age and ability.

All students will take an English language exam at the end of their course.  For younger students they will take the Cambridge Young Learner Exams. Older and stronger students will be able to access the City and Guilds Exams that we offer.

Taunton Preparatory School has excellent facilities that include classrooms with interactive white boards, excellent IT facilities, science labs, design and technology room, home economics classroom and art room.

Students will be boarding in Taunton School in small dormitories and will be cared for 24 hours a day by experienced staff with this age group. We want to provide a supportive and caring environment and keep students busy with a full leisure programme offering evening activities and weekend excursions. There will be no time for them to feel homesick!

Students will have three cooked meals a day.  Students can play in the Preparatory School play ground; spend time in the TV room and enjoy the other excellent facilities offered in Taunton School.

Our junior course is a special programme designed for young learners aged 7-12. This will be a small course of only 50 students so book early to avoid disappointment.
