If students wish to take a GCSE in a subject not offered above, we can arrange tuition at an extra charge. It is also possible to take English GCSE as a First Language if a student's level of English is good enough.
Depending on their age and level of English, students can take up to 8 GCSE subjects in a year. The intensive one year course is excellent preparation for A levels and the IB Diploma and saves students time and money as they are doing their GCSEs in one year instead of the normal two years.
As part of the GCSE course, students are expected to complete coursework, field work and independent investigations, with the help of our specialist teachers. To be able to do all this in one year, we have a longer summer term for our GCSE students.
Depending on their ability, students on the Two Year GCSE Programme are able to take some GCSEs in their first year and some in their second year, leaving with up to 10 GCSEs. The advantage of this programme is that students get extra support with their English, their academic subjects and learning what is expected in a UK classroom situation. With small class sizes and specialist teachers, students quickly improve in a carring yet disciplined environment.
Students study 44 lessons per week, and have supervised homework, in small classes (maximum 10 students) with curriculum specialist teachers. They also have a full and varied programme of after school activities.
Students wishing to join our GCSE courses may be asked to complete an English test when they register with us. |
