A Welcome From the Principal...

At Taunton International Study Centre (TISC) we aim to meet students’ individual needs and to prepare them academically, socially and pastorally for their next school. Our students are part of the Taunton School community and are able to enjoy all of the school’s excellent facilities.

Academically, students are placed into classes according to their English and Mathematics ability and they study a full curriculum of subjects, with lessons six days a week. Students on our one year GCSE course are able to study up to 7 GCSEs from a choice of 15 different subjects. We also offer a Pre-IB course including study skills and Theory of Knowledge. We are delighted to be able to offer students this wide choice academically, which means that our programmes are excellent preparation for either A levels or the IB Diploma.

Socially, students can choose from a huge range of different activities offered by Taunton School such as music, art, swimming, karate, golf and riding and they join the UK boarders for a full programme of social events and cultural excursions at weekends.

Pastorally, students get a lot of support and care from our dedicated and caring staff and there is always someone to help them if they need it. We have over ten years of experience in caring for overseas students at TISC.  I myself teach PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) and this means that I see each student in class weekly. I am also always available to them if they have any academic or pastoral needs.
