The Spring Vacation Course began with two residential trips; a trip for the Science students to visit sustainable and alternative energy developments in North Wales, and a fun-packed activity weekend for other students in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire.

After the break away, lessons began. During the day, the GCSE students worked hard in revision lessons, and the vacation course students studied a wide range of subjects including English, Maths, ICT, Sport, Geography, Art, Science and Economics. Two day trips were organised at the weekends for the students, one to London by train, and the other to Stratford upon Avon, the birthplace of the famous English playwright and poet William Shakespeare. These visits were a great way to experience British life and culture, and do some shopping!

During the week, the students were spoilt for choice with other evening and weekend activities. All the students went ice-skating in Plymouth and had lots of fun. Other activities included bowling, yoga, crafts, DVD nights, skittling, jewellery making, cinema trips and an evening walk on the Quantock Hills. Sport sessions were held most afternoons, where students could choose from many activities including volleyball, basketball, badminton, football, cricket, netball, rounders, or the fitness suite.

Towards the end of the course we treated the girls and boys to a pamper night and pool competition, giving them a chance to relax and treat themselves, before the very popular disco the next evening.

The students' feedback of the course was overwhelmingly positive, and agreed that a good balance of study and recreational activities had been achieved. We are very pleased that some of the visiting students have since begun to consider Taunton School and TISC as prospective schools for next year.
