With their suitcases packed full of warm clothes, spare socks, sleeping bags and for some… hairdryers, the TISC students were now ready for their PGL trip to Beam House in Devon. We arrived on Friday and were introduced to our instructors and had a tour of the grounds. After supper the team building activities started.

Saturday morning was full of activities which included Surfing, Archery, High Ropes and Quad Biking. After much persuasion we managed to get most of the students into the sea to try their hand at surfing. After lunch it was all go again with more exciting and for some scary activities! The High Ropes were a challenge for those with a fear of height but Miss Haste has persuasive powers. Everybody took part and in the end they were all screaming with delight when they finally completed the challenge. It was then the challenge course and everyone got very wet and muddy.

On first impressions, the sound of three hours of mountain biking seemed a very daunting prospect, especially for some students who couldn’t ride a bike. However, Ms Shaw saved the day and swapped teaching Maths for teaching cycling, with fantastic results. We set off from Beam House on our bikes and headed to Bideford taking in the nature and sights along the way.

Saturday evening came and went with the students enjoying the disco. Sunday arrived and after another exhausting day of activities it was time to leave. The Students packed up their suitcases once again and we all thanked and waved goodbye to the fantastic staff at PGL.
