Latest News› Prizegiving and the Opening of the New Hall at TISC› Prizegiving 2007 GalleryOn Thursday 21st June was our last event of the year which again was held in the Old Library in Taunton School. It was prizegiving where all the students were presented with their certificates and prizes. The teachers had a problem choosing only one student of the year so there are two students this year - Jeffrey from China and Ani from Russia. Alannah Hunt, Governor of Taunton School chaired the prizegiving and Caroline Nixon, Principal of TISC gave a report of the past year. Peter Cook who used to be the Head of Maths at TISC before he retired, presented the prizes and was our guest speaker. After prizegiving we had lunch and then we went to TISC to open the new building. The building was opened by Alannah Hunt and the students of the year. The building looked wonderful with a blue ribbon around it and lots of balloons. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t good and umbrellas were needed, but it didn’t spoil the day. We had a music concert in the new hall which was packed for the occasion. The Cantabile Choir from Taunton Preparatory sang 5 lovely songs, and then some of TISC students performed solo pieces. Rob, Andy, Akiko, Jin, Luke, Kitty and Sabrina’s performances were fantastic and they were very brave to stand up and perform in front of so many people. At the end of the concert we had a cup of tea and cake and listened to Taunton School’s Allegri Brass Band. The cake was made by Mrs Kilbride and it looked great as it was in the shape of our new building. It was a great celebration of the new facilities at TISC which include a new hall, IT room, a language laboratory, 4 new classrooms with interactive whiteboards, an expanded laundry, new bedrooms and a brand new bathroom. Everyone then started leaving and it was time to say goodbye which is the sad part as it is the end of another year at TISC.
