Taunton School International gains membership of the Council of International Schools

The Council of International Schools is the premier organisation in International Education for the accreditation of schools and Best Practice development. CIS is a not-for-profit organisation of a truly worldwide international educational community comprising over 650 member schools and 450 colleges/universities. It has experience of education in more than 100 countries and many of the Council's Officers and Consultants are former heads of international schools. In January 2010 Taunton School International has been granted Provisional Membership by the CIS Board of Directors. This is the first step in the membership process and puts the school amongst only 17 members within the UK.

Mrs Caroline Nixon, Principal of Taunton School International says “The CIS states as its central purpose that it enables member organisations to achieve and deliver the highest standards in International Education and continually improve the outcome of student learning. At Taunton School International we have long held the same philosophy and we are delighted to be granted Provisional Membership of the CIS. We are now looking forward to promoting further international awareness throughout our student and staff body and in continuing our development as a provider of high quality educational courses for international students wishing to experience life in a British Boarding school.”

The academic provision at Taunton School International has increased both in quality of provision and in the quantity of subjects offered in recent years. The school now provides for instruction in 21 separate GCSE programmes and students following these courses produce a very high level of attainment. The staff at Taunton School International are dedicated to providing the best and the architect of these recent changes the Deputy Principal, Mr Adrian Hallworth, is excited about the school’s Provisional Membership of the CIS. He says, “Membership is recognition that we are providers of a quality education product for international students.  It enables us to further develop by sharing best practice with others and by reviewing our operating policies against internationally accepted standards.”
